Bush Camp...our third William Pike Challenge
Today we travelled in a time machine back to the year of 1883... what an experience!
We learnt how to build camp fires, cook traditional scones, boil water in billys, even chop wood and transport logs on a railway track!
We couldn't believe how long it must have taken to complete the simplest jobs, we are so lucky to have the technology we have today. This experience has given us the skills to survive if we were ever stuck out in the bush. Thank you so much Arataki park rangers for making this experience possible.

WALT:Show Don’t Tell!
I’m waiting with anticipation I cannot tell who will be walking into the hall very soon.
Is it someone I know,or is it someone I don’t know???
In just a short while,I see a person in a suit facing with his back turned away from my class,I think carefully as to who it could be..
I’m feeling very embarrassed because maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t know him,I need to know him!
We walk into the hall and I look.. ..it’s a man with a quite interesting bald haircut! He talks to us very wisely, I think he’s a principal? But actually I find out that he is a CEO for Rugby League. Also I find out that he is a talented man because he played for the Black Cand used to play for the Warriors. My face turns into a banana shape when I see how talented he is! He told us... “If you work hard right now, your life will be easier.”
“Don’t worry about regrets. Mistakes are ok “Keep moving forward”
Thank you John you are an inspiration!

Kehu- A hero of Early New Zealand
This week on Thursday we are going to the Auckland University Marae. We have been learning about the Maori culture. In reading this week, Ema's group have been learning about Kehu a hero of early New Zealand who travelled our lands in 550 days!
Imagine if you got to meet Kehu...what would you ask him?
This group buddied up and pretended to interview Kehu using Stupflix a new ap we are learning to use. This is Pauline and Ema's pretend interview...
Kiwisport Term 2
This term Glenville has the opportunity to participate in weekly Badminton coaching. Today was our first session. We learnt how to hold our rackets to swing a forearm and a backarm. We also learnt the importance of not swinging from our shoulders, these rackets are light and only require a small swing from your elbow.
